A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Kabiru Turaki, has said that the party needs to pick someone with integrity and credibility as its presidential candidate if it must win the 2019 presidential election.
The former minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs said this yesterday in Benin, Edo State while addressing delegates and members of the PDP on his presidential ambition.
Turaki said he was eminently qualified to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, stressing that Nigeria needs not only an experienced and a well-educated candidate but also a bridge builder who does not have controversial character.
He said such a candidate must not be known to have taken advantage of the system when he was given the opportunity to serve.
He said if given the ticket and became president, the issues of restructuring and security would be his focal points to ensure better economy, adding that Nigeria’s problems persist because the country’s laws have been skewed in such a way that they will not ensure fairness and equity.
