Trainees of the National Directorate of Employment NDE in Zamfara state said they are excited by the programme, which would reshape their financial future.
Some of the trainees, who spoke to our correspondent during the disbursement of resettlement loans, said the training they received in various aspects of human endeavours would boost their financial standing in the future.
They said with the training the era of joblessness is gone for good as many of them would harvest their patience and endurance in the course of their three month long training by the National Directorate of Employment in Zamfara state.
Mohammed Halidu, who received training on Plaster of Paris (POP), expressed gratitude to NDE for coming up with the scheme.
“I’m very much impressed and grateful. We were trained for three months. I was given resettlement loan; therefore, I will hit the ground running. It is very encouraging and in the cause of my job I’m thinking of training others one day. Since the objective of the programme is providing employment opportunities to the teeming youths,” he said.
Another trainee, Amina Murtala, who was trained on environmental beautification, said the training would serve as a catalyst for helping her family since she is married with children.
“I’m married and I was trained on how to beautify environment and I will put all that I learned into practice. As a married woman the importance of the scheme to me and my family cannot be over emphasized,” she added.
Another trainee, Abba Yahaya, who learned the art of interlocking said he had gone as far as neighbouring Sokoto state for interlocking work even while on training adding that the scheme had started changing his financial status even when he was undergoing training.
“I have a diploma in Civil Law and I’m calling on young men and women like me to seek for ways to become self-reliant because the white collar jobs they are thinking about are not available and the earlier the better for them,” he advised.
In his keynote address, the Director General of the NDE, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu, said the scheme is a demonstration of NDE’s support for youth investment as they had provided requisite tools and cash to a total 416 graduates of EBTS in the 36 states and Abuja.
He urged the recipients to endeavor to repay the loan as agreed.
