PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, had last week issued a statement on behalf of the party on the appointment of Zakari as INEC chair, saying it is the position of the party that the appointment smacks of nepotism and should be reversed.
But Jalo swiftly reacted, describing the statement by Metuh as an individual opinion, stressing that the appointment of Zakari is a welcome development and is acceptable to the PDP.
National secretary of the PDP, Prof. Wale Oladipo, in a letter to Jalo said the latter should appear before the NWC members at its meeting on Wednesday 15 for the NWC to investigate the matter.
The letter reads: “The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) has been drawn to your recent unguarded utterances in some Nigerian newspapers.
“The NWC has therefore requested you to appear at its meeting for preliminary investigation on the charge of bringing the party to disrepute amongst others.”
