Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni yesterday flagged off the distribution of 2.3 million free Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) as a preventive measure for malaria disease.
The distribution, which is a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, the Malaria Consortium and other development partners, was held at the palace of Emir of Damaturu.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, said: “This is an accelerated drive towards elimination of malaria in Nigeria.
“Our administration is poised to cater for the health needs of our people and would continue to accord priority to health care by establishing at least one health centre in each of the wards in the state and also expand routine immunization. All households across the 17 local governments areas would be covered”.
