Women urge Ganduje to pick Sheikh Khalil as deputy

The women wing of supporters of Shaikh Ibrahim Khalil has called on Kano state Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to pick the renowned Islamic scholar as his running mate in 2019.

The Leader of the wing, Hajiya Ladi Mijinyawa made the call during a sensitization programme for women organized by the group recently.

Hajiya Ladi said since the incumbent Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar had announced his intention not to join ticket with Ganduje in 2019, the governor should replace him with Sheikh Khalil.

“We have been clamoring for change, I believe Malam Ibrahim is the right choice because he has all the qualities of a good leader and I am confident he can deliver,” she said.

She, however, dismissed rumors that the renowned scholar was aspiring for governor, saying, “Malam has no ambition to become the next governor of Kano state.”

In his remarks, Sheikh Khalil expressed gratitude to the women and urged them to obtain parmanent voters cards, as according to him that was the only way a citizen could vote for candidates of his choice.
