Convener of the SMEs Springboard, Mrs Helen Achenyo Asimegbe and one of the vendors at the 3rd SMEs Springboard displaying one of the wares at the event held at the Riverplate Park, Wuse 2, Abuja last Saturday.

Riverplate Park, Wuse 2, Abuja, was host to 90 vendors (mainly women) and hundreds of shoppers at the 3rd edition of the SMEs Springboard fair last Saturday.

One of the shoppers, Hadiza Jimoh, said there were a variety of beautiful things to buy. “From clothing to accessories, shoes, food and drinks; there are lots of amazing things.  And they come at very good, affordable prices.”

Another shopper, Fatima Momoh, said the fair was a one-stop shop for Made-in-Nigeria products. “Most of the products are Nigerian made and they are of high quality. I am very proud of it. I like the entertainment at the fair, too,” she said.

One of the vendors, Lilian Victor of Lilys Signature, makers of Made-in-Nigeria wears, said patronage was good. “I make made in Nigeria wears.  The patronage is good. The fair has helped me to meet with more clients. The forum has given me a means to advertise,” she said.

Another vendor, Adebola Aweh, a shoemaker shared her experience thus; “The trade fair is not about the sales alone but about networking. When I come here, it’s not that I sell any big thing, but usually what comes after. I have met people here whom afterwards have brought me much sales/income.

“It not just about the sales today; I am here to network, to let people know what I do.” Aweh said.

The organiser of the SMEs Springboard fair, Mrs Helen Achenyo Asimegbe, said the event was aimed at creating a platform for people to buy and sell. “I want a forum to enable people expand their businesses and also network. We have about 85 to 90 vendors today.”
