Why we fail to complete all projects in July – Candido

The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has said though the council has failed to complete all projects in July, the projects are about 60 per cent completed.

The chairman, while signing the 2018 budget in February, had mandated officials of the works department to ensure the completion of ongoing projects on or before July while new ones must be completed before May 20, 2019.

He said the council would engage in ‘light projects’ to avoid the difficulties experienced last year in executing ‘gigantic projects,’ adding that no matter how light the projects were, they must be people oriented.

Candido, who spoke while inspecting some projects in Karshi and Orozo wards, said “We are human and we may have wanted it that way. We have not been able to get it exactly that way.  Budget is like that and I believe all projects are more than 60 per cent completed,” he said.

Candido, who led council officials on a week-long inspection tour, said some projects were yet to be completed.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over some of the ongoing projects.

He said the council might either revoke the contract for the upgrading of Karshi community market or call the developer to order.
