A female governorship candidate in Sokoto State on the platform of the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA), Hajiya Salamatu Isah Abdullahi, says she wants to steer the affairs of the state to bring about real development to the ‘Seat of the Caliphate.’
The governorship hopeful said education would be the number one priority of her administration if voted into power.
Hajiya Salamatu, who was the PPA state secretary before emerging as the state chairman of the party in 2015, and now its governorship candidate, added that she would also prioritise women and youth empowerment.
“Women form a large chuck of voters, but when governments are formed, what women are mostly given are sewing machines, grinding machines, and the like, as empowerment. The only way is for women to be in charge, we will ensure empowerment programmes are actually empowering,” she stated.
