We won’t accept conspiracy against budget presentation by Buhari – Rep Baba

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Baba (APC, Bauchi), said yesterday that they will not accept any move to sabotage tomorrow’s planned budget presentation to a joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Baba who represents Katagum Federal Constituency, therefore, urged the management of the National Assembly to do everything it takes and resolve its lingering misunderstanding with National Assembly staff to allow smooth presentation by the president.

The Rep. said there was grand conspiracy to make things difficult for the Buhari-led administration, saying APC legislators would go the extra mile to support the president present the budget proposal before they would leave for Christmas and new year celebrations.

He added that it was wrong for the management of National Assembly to allow uncertainty prevail at this critical period.

The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), National Assembly chapter, yesterday, began a four-day warning strike.

In a statement on Saturday, the chairman, Bature Mohammed, said the decision was reached in an emergency congress held on December 14.

Mohammed said that the warning strike which would run till December 20, was to press home the demands of the association.

Members of PASAN had on December 4 shut down operations at the National Assembly when they prevented lawmakers from sitting over request for new condition of service for members, promotion and payment of 28 per cent increment in salary captured as contained in the 2018 budget.
