Abolurin made the request when the House of Representatives Committee on Interior paid a visit to the Corps’ Academy in Sauka, Abuja on Wednesday as part of its oversight functions.

While addressing the lawmakers, the NSCDC boss said going by the nature of its job, the Corps required aircraft to penetrate areas without access roads.

The CG who said the Corps was nowhere close to its counterparts in other countries, especially Russia, called for more funds to actualize its dreams.

“We encourage you to budget extraordinarily for the Corps so that we can continue doing the good job”, he said.

While speaking on the Corps’ giant strides, Abolurin said : “Our story is that of a movement from a 3-bedroom flat in zone 5 in 2005, we are now able to bring you here to see what we have used the money you gave us for.”

Abolurin who took the Committee members round the ongoing projects in the academy, said the Corps has other projects going on in all parts of the country as well.

Responding, Hon. Victor Nwokolo applauded the efforts of the Corps urging the organisation to keep on with the “good work”.

“We have seen that the money appropriated to you has been judiciously used,” he noted.

Similarly, Hon. Ibrahim Ebbo who pointed out that the N37.9 billion released to the Corps in 2013 out of the N58.4 billion appropriated to it had been effectively utilised.

“Mr. Chairman, I want us to look into improving our allocation to the organisation following the good work they are doing.”

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, who led the team on the assignment, Hon. Dan Asuquo assured that the committee will look into increasingly funding to the Corps for capital projects.

He noted that the Committee had never commended any organisation or individual the way the NSCDC’s CG is being applauded.

“You are doing well. I want to commend the President of the country for giving us a Commandant General like you,” he said.
