We’re waiting to receive Kwankwaso, Saraki, others — PDP BoT chair

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP, Senator Walid Jibrin, said yesterday that the party is waiting to receive a former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and others.

But when contacted, Kwankwaso’s media aide, Binta Spikin, said her principal remained a member of the APC.

Spikin said any political party worth its salt would want Kwankwaso in its fold but added that for now, “Kwankwaso is a member of APC.”

I don’t think he has changed this;  if  he has, it would have been in the public domain,” she said.

Kwankwaso had in buildup to the 2015 general elections left the PDP alongside four other governors and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking with newsmen yesterday in Abuja, Senator Jibrin said, “As the party joyfully welcomes Atiku back to his home PDP, we are equally waiting to receive more members of the APC including Sen. Kwankwaso, senators, members of the House of Representatives, President of the Senate Bukola Saraki and APC governors who had earlier left PDP. Thereafter, all of us would unite to take power from the APC come 2019.”

The BoT chairman also urged all aspirants to develop the spirit of give and take and accept the verdict of delegates at next Saturday’s convention.

“They should all accept whoever emerges as the national chairman. They should continue to remain loyal to the party and accept that power comes from God. He gives it to whom He likes and take it away from whom he likes,” he said.

Walid Jibrin said it was too late to micro-zone the chairmanship position of the party, saying all aspirants should be allowed to test their fame through the primaries.
