Water, which plays a vital role in containing the spread of coronavirus, has been a major challenge in most of the local communities in Adamawa State, an official of a non-governmental organisation said.
The Executive Chairman of Global Peace Development (GPD), Ebure Esiki, said this during a courtesy visit to the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency to seek for partnership to curb the virus in the local councils.
He explained that there was the need for government to intervene in provision of water and sensitisation of the local communities about the scourge of the pandemic as most of the citizens are ignorant of its dangers.
Ebure reiterated that water plays a vital role in containing the virus, especially in ensuring constant hand washing, as most of the households in the state do not have potable drinking water.
He said partnership with the agency was critical as his organisation, with support from British Council and MCN, would provide facilitators who would educate people on COVID-19.
The Chairman of the agency, Dr. Sa’idu Bashir, thanked the NGO for its effort to enhance the health of the people, adding that they welcome any partnership that will improve the health and well-being of the citizens.
