The Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) and Vitafoam Nigeria Plc have partnered to maximise the benefits of science and increase the awareness of such benefits.
In a statement yesterday, the Executive Secretary of NAS, Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo said the agreement which held at the NAS secretariat in Lagos last Tuesday will last for three years will feature periodic media roundtables and annual media awards to promote excellence in science and science-related journalism.
“This is a crucial step in ensuring that public awareness and focus on science are increased through science reporting by the media (both print/online and electronic),” it said.
The Academy noted that science reporting can be improved through the strategies, thus the media roundtables will be held regularly and two science prizes will be awarded at an annual luncheon for science journalists.
These would be for the science journalist of the year (print and broadcast categories), it added.
Vitafoam’s team was led by its Managing Director, Mr. Taiwo Adeniyi who were received by the President, NAS, Professor Mosto Onuoha, and Dr. Odubanjo.
