Violence: Party ticket not ticket to paradise – Sarah Jibril

Speaking in Abuja, Dr Sarah advised members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in particular to show high sense of patriotism by focusing on issues that could neutralize the current “biased minds”.
“Politicians should be ethical, responsive. The political parties are supposed to know that what is expected of them is ethical rules by their conscience.
“There has been exchange of negative utterances from both political parties. We are an evolving nation with a lot of differences in culture, ethnic, religion, economy and social.
“I want Nigerians to know that political ticket is not a ticket to paradise. Why should the issue of politics become a do-or-die that people will shed blood. Why should we be threatened? “Power is given by Allah. So, we are doing our advocacy quietly.   I have been in touch with Mosques and Churches to preach the message for both Muslims and Christians on ethics and values.”
She underscored the need for traditional rulers and religious leaders in the North and the South to come together   in order to solve the country’s challenges.
She, however, noted that ethics, values and character were important ingredients in the development of any nation, stressing that without peace, there could be no investment and employment opportunities in the country.
She also stressed the need for the politicians to conduct their affairs based on sound ethical values, noting that the lack of sound values and ethics was responsible for the current crisis in the country.
She announced that the first National Ethics Summit themed “Transforming the National Foundations by Ethics and Values, for National Transformation and Development” would commence on March 18.
Efforts, she added, had been initiated for the propagation of ethics and values beyond Nigeria, as a leading country in Africa.
