Vigilantes hold intelligence, provost trainings

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria has concluded a 3-day intelligence and provost trainings for its selected members nation-wide.
The training, which took place at the NYSC orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja was aimed at preparing the group for the task ahead, the Commandant-General of the group, Mohammed Usman Jahun said.
Jahun, a retired Major-General, told journalists at the end of the training that the group would in the coming year focus more on intelligence gathering to curb crime at the grassroots.
The vigilante leader said issue of discipline among his men and as they relate with other security outfits would also be taken seriously.
He urged all members of the group to remain committed at their various duty posts, adding that with patience, their efforts would, one day, be recognized by the relevant authorities.
He pleaded  with the federal government to begin a process that would give legal backing to the operation of the group and confer equal rights on its members with other security outfits.
The chairman of the group’s Board of Trustees, Alhaji Ahmed Dahaltu, said skill acquisition centre would be established to enable the members acquire relevant skills that would assist them pending when their plights would be attended to by the present administration.
