The United States Government has commended the Nigerian electorate for successfully casting their votes in a peaceful manner, as observed by international and domestic observers across the country despite the few cases of violence.
In a statement issued by the American Secretary of State from Washington DC, Michael R. Pompeo, he said, “We commend all those Nigerians who participated peacefully in the election and condemn those whose acts of violence harmed Nigerians and the electoral process.”
He also congratulated President-elect Muhammadu Buhari after being announced winner of the elections held last week.
