The current minister of State for Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril, has been appointed as the Emir of Nasarawa Emirate in Nasarawa state.
This was announced by the Nasarawa state government on Thursday.
His appointment followed his selection by the Nasarawa Emirate Council.
The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Iliya Osegba said, “Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura approved the selection of Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril as the new Emir of Nasarawa following the meeting of the Nasarawa state Traditional Council of Chiefs, where the traditional council ratified the selections that was done by the various kingmakers.
He said the governor expressed satisfaction and appreciated the high sense of maturity displayed by the kingmakers during the exercise. He congratulates His Royal Highness, the new Emir of Nasarawa.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Nasarawa Emirate Council, Dr. Idris Muhammad Loko who holds the title of Malamin Sarkin Nasarawa did not disclose the names of those that contested for the throne of Emir of Lafia.
“It is a family affair and that would be announced later for history sake and not to cause disharmony in the royal house,” he said. He called on the people to support the newly announced Emir.
Also, the Nasarawa State government has confirmed the selection of Mr Lawrence Sylvester Ayih as the new Abaga Toni of Toni Kingdom.
