Popular Hausa singer Saddiq Usman Saleh a.k.a Sadiq Zazzabi said huddles in his career has made him stronger.

In 2017, Zazzabi was taken to court by the Kano Censorship Board on a two-count charge of releasing a song video which the prosecutor described as “containing immorality by featuring seductive dance by women.”

Zazzabi, however, maintained that he was charged because the song, ‘Maza Bayan Ka,’ expressed support for the opposition party at the time. He became even more popular when he was arrested by officials of the state government.

His ‘Yanzu Abuja Tayi Tsaf’ song was the first to get Zazzabi into trouble with the state censorship board when he was accused of not passing it through the government’s apex body engaged in censoring activities.

These events made fans crave to always find out what the artist had to say in his songs.

Speaking to Daily Trust Saturday, Zazzabi who said he had never been deterred by such actions against him added: “I know if I was doing something wrong, I wouldn’t have been this popular and the authorities would have had enough evidence to silence me forever. But I believe as a singer, I am expected to say the truth as it is. Whenever I get into their bad books, I always come out stronger.”

Zazzabi is well known, not only in norther Nigeria, for his songs about love, pressing social issues, politics, among others. Born on January 5, 1970 he received various awards within and outside Kano State. He came first place at Ga Fili Ga Mai Doki organized by Bayero University Kano in collaboration with Kano State Censors Board. He also won an award of excellence for outstanding contribution in broadcasting in the field of music by Kaduna State Media Corporation, entertainment executive of the Year by AMMA and Best Popular Singer of the Year Award by Freedom FM Radio Kano.
