Estate surveyors and valuers in Nigeria have been advised to close ranks, partner and collaborate rather than compete in their professional practice so as to unlock more fields and potentials for themselves.
The call was made when the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Unity Chapter (FCT) conducted its 2017 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) seminar in Abuja.
At the event held at the Yar’adua Centre, the chairman of the branch, Esv. Adamu Kasimu, said the theme for this year is ‘IPSAS: A Tool for Unlocking the Wealth of a Nation’. IPSAS is the International Public Sector Accounting Standard.
Publicity Secretary of the branch, Esv. Lansar Aghaji, on his part, said the idea stemmed from the need to expand the knowledge base of members on IPSAS; the need for its effective implementation and the ability of members to develop their individual capacity and to also network.
Representative of the Accountant General of the Federation, M.B. Nuhu, in his contribution, said the office of the AGF recognized the relevance of estate surveyors and valuers and their effort in enforcing minimum standard for non-compliance with MCPD.
President of NIESV, Esv. Bolarinwa Patunola-Ajayi, in his remarks, commended the effort of the branch in enlightening members on IPSAS standard implementation in line with global best practices in assets valuation and report writing.
