The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in Taraba State and opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) are trading words over the violence in Jalingo, the state capital.
The state government had alleged that APC supporters started the attack which resulted to violence. But the APC countered alleging that PDP and Taraba State government coordinated and carried out the attacks on APC supporters.
The commissioner for Information, Mr Simon Dogari, while addressing journalists in Jalingo, alleged that the violence in the state capital was carried out by miscreants hired and armed by those who lost the election.
Dogari also alleged that the losers created violence in an attempt to discredit the governorship election which was free and fair.
However, the APC state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim El-Sudi, debunked the allegations, saying the attack was coordinated and carried out by the PDP and Taraba State government
El-Sudi said the records of the atrocities committed by the PDP and Taraba State government were in their possession.
The party chairman, who said the APC supporters are still being attacked in different locations, however urged them to remain calm and be law abiding. He said the APC would challenge the outcome of the election in court.
