Tambuwal nominates Dan’iya as dep gov

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has submitted name of his former  Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Alhaji Manir Dan’iya to the Sokoto State House of Assembly as deputy governor designate.

Dan’iya was recently replaced as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Sokoto had been without a deputy governor since the resignation of Ahmed Aliyu about two weeks ago.

Aliyu is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a letter sent to the assembly which was read at the plenary session yesterday, Tambuwal said the nomination which was in line with Section 191(3) (c) of the 1999 Constitution, followed the voluntary resignation of his former deputy.

The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Salihu Maidaji had already directed clerk of the house to invite the nominee for screening.
