State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, yesterday paraded more than 10 suspects believed to have participated in the crime alongside their alleged masterminds at the police headquarters in Makurdi.

He said one of the suspects had agreed to help the police trace the arms they carted away during the operation.

The commissioner also disclosed that the gang were responsible for many robberies along the Otukpo-Enugu highway, adding that during their arrest from different locations in Okpokwu local government area of the state, several dangerous weapons were recovered.

In another development, the police commissioner has called on members of the public whose motorcycles may have been stolen to check at the command’s headquarters in Makurdi for possible identification and claim.

According to him, over 300 motorcycles were impounded last month following a special raid by the police in conjunction with the Benue State Internal Revenue Service  (BIRS) tagged, “Operation Register Your Motorcycle.”

Makama said 77 of the motorcycles impounded had remained unclaimed, suggesting that they might have been stolen from their real owners.
