Newly promoted Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Supreme Court Football Club of Abuja have signed twenty-five players ahead of the start of the 2014 league season. The General Manager of the Club, Mr. Tolu Oguntimehin revealed this while speaking with Journalists in Abuja on Monday.
“We have signed twenty-five players for the new season.” He said the twenty-five players comprised of fourteen of the players that helped the team to the NNL last year, while eleven rookies were added to create competition in the team. While revealing that the players have been in camp since 6th of January, 2014 trying to blend, the Manager noted that the focus of the team is to gain promotion to the elite league at the end of the season. “We started our pre-season from January 6th but we are now taking it higher as the start of the season draw closer. Our focus is to get into the Premier League at the end of the season,” he said. When asked if the players are well motivated to push for promotion, the team Manager assured that: “They all have contract in place and their welfare is being adequately taken care of.” The team will trade tackles with Premier League club; Nasarawa United in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday at the Lafia Stadium. Mr. Oguntimehin said the choice of a Premier League side was to put his boys to a test above their level ahead of their NNL opener. Supreme Court FC will begin their battle for promotion with a trip to Minna to face Niger Tornadoes on Saturday, 25th of January, 2014 .
