Sule Lamido replies presidency

A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, says the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, is too desperate to win Muhammadu Buhari’s loyalty.

Lamido said this in reaction to a statement issued by Malam Shehu in which he said that it was an act of hooliganism for the former governor who is facing criminal prosecution to be aspiring for the nation’s presidency.

Shehu also described the series of interviews by Lamido, each stepping up attacks on Buhari over the ongoing anti-corruption war, as a reflection of “the intellectual and moral bankruptcy” of the opposition in the country.

Lamido, who reacted through his Social Media aide, Mansur Ahmed, said the presidential media assistant resorted to attacks on his personality, having appeared not to have answered the salient issues he raised in his interview.

The former governor, who said those who complained against the government were being mocked and called “wailing wailers”, added that he remained a Nigerian citizen by right and not by political party and that the government of Nigeria is his.

He said that a responsible government should have sought to find out why the people were wailing.
