Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Boy de Jong, who has decided to return to the Netherlands due to the coronavirus outbreak.
De Jong signed for the newly promoted Cape Winelands club at the start of the season and was initially the No 1 goalkeeper, before losing his place to Lee Langeveldt in the weekend leading up to the pause in the Premier Soccer League season.
The 25-year-old arrived from Belgian side Anderlecht and made 18 appearances for Stellenbosch.
“It was a pleasure to be part of the club, I have made the choice to go back home because of the virus,” De Jong said.
