The South-South Youth Movement (SSYM) has endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan for the 9th Senate Presidency.
SSYM National President Matthew Onokpasa and Secretary Ekierovie Lucky, in a statement yesterday, also appealed to all political stakeholders to support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for Deputy Senate Presidency.
The group said Lawan and Omo-Agege would provide the much-needed synergy between the executive and legislative arms “coupled with their unyielding loyalty and commitment to the federal government in particular and APC in general”.
“We appealed to all political stakeholders to support the emergence of a healthy Senate pursuant to the constitution, standing rules, oversight functions and law making statutes for the country to move forward,” it added.
The group said while it noted that all contestants are qualified, without emotions, it supported and endorsed Lawan and Omo-Agege “because they stand tall amongst other contestants. They are dependable and trusted leaders, honest and incorruptible, have character and prowess to lead the 9th Senate.
“There is no alternative to Senators Ahmed Lawan/Ovie Omo-Agege ticket as it will galvanise the letters and spirit of the next level agenda which Nigerians worked for and subsequently voted massively because of their love for President Muhammadu Buhari,” it added.
