He added that the state government had begun process of repealing obsolete laws militating against effective revenue generation in Sokoto state.
The governor said a bill would soon be sent to the state House of Assembly for passage into law.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam, said Tambuwal disclosed this after a meeting with officials of the interim management committee of the state board of internal revenue.
He said the boost in revenue followed the intervention put in place by appointing new officers to head the revenue generating agency in the state.,
Tambuwal however asserted “We have recorded modest achievements in revenue generation in the last year but I have to admit we have our sights set on far higher targets."
He assured of required support to the interim management committee of the state board of internal revenue.
"We will also institutionalize these achievements by passing relevant laws that will move revenue generation forward,” he said.
According to him, some of the state laws had been in operation since the 70s and could not meet up with the requirement of modern governance.
