Over 30 principals of secondary schools in Sokoto State have been reassigned to classrooms over alleged partisanship.
Those affected included the president of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Muhammad Musa and his secretary who were redeployed to the mother ministry.
One of the affected principals alleged that they were demoted to classroom teachers on accusation of partisanship.
The principal, who pleaded not to be named, described the development as disastrous which would hinder educational development in the state.
ANCOPSS president said he could not confirm whether it was politically motivated, saying as civil servants, they had taken it in good faith.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Aishat Madawaki, said committees were set up before the principals were demoted.
She denied that the posting was politically motivated, saying some of the principals were demoted to vice principals and as they had “not changed were reassigned to classrooms.”
