The Sokoto State House of Assembly has set up a special committee comprising 11 members to investigate allegations of ethical misconduct against two of its members.
The members are Sani Yakubu (APC-Gudu) and Malami Galadanchi (APC- Sokoto North I) who had vehemently opposed the impeachment of the former deputy House leader Kabiru Ibrahim (APC- Kware) on August 15, with Yakubu alleging that the impeachment was an attempt to cover up some shady deals involving the speaker.
The 11-man committee followed a motion by Alhaji Atiku Liman (APC-Silame) and seconded by Alhaji Abdullahi Zakari (APC- Rabah). Liman said there was the need to investigate the ‘misconduct’ of the two members during the impeachment of the deputy House leader.
He said the development generated much public concern and the Assembly needed to detect the fact of the matter.
The committee which is chaired by Alhaji Habibu Modachi (APC- Isa) was given two weeks to submit its report.
