Smuggling: Nigerien arrested with 3 bags of Tramadol in Kano

Nigerian government banned tramadol a couple of months ago over abuse of the drug.

A Nigerian, Sahabi Adamu, has been arrested for being in possession of three bags containing tramadol tablets worth N30m street value in Kano.

He was arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operation Unit (FOU), Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, along the Kano- Hadeja Road.

The Comptroller of the FOU Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, Sarkin Kebbi Mustafa, said the three sacks contained 1,146 packets of 225mg of tramadol tablets.

He said the suspect had confessed not to be alone in the business and had promised to help in the arrest of others.
