The baby, identified as Jemila, was said to have unknowinglycrawled out of her mother’s shop and settled under a Toyota Camry car playing with her toys when the ugly event happened.
A witness, Mrs. Ketura Samson, told City News that the baby was playing under the vehicle when the driver of the car, who did not notice the baby’s presence, entered and engaged the car in a reverse gear, crushing the baby’s head.
The baby was said to have died on the spot.
The driver of the car, a female, said she parked to buy something in a nearby shop and didn’t notice the baby’s presence under her car when she returned.
She said that when she was reversing, she felt something and thought it was a stone, adding that the residents raised an alarm that attracted her attention and made her to stop.
Mrs. Ladi Ibrahim, the mother of the baby,while crying said the baby sneaked out of the room without her knowledge.
The father of the baby told our reporter that the baby was buried soon after the accident.
