Senate: Olujimi takes over Akpabio’s seat

Senator Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti) has taken over the seat of erstwhile Minority Leader in the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio, who was the minority leader defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in August. Olujimi had been the deputy minority whip.

Since Akpabio’s departure to the APC, his position became vacant, although the Senate had been on recess until its resumption yesterday.

At the resumption of plenary, Olujimi was seen occupying Akpabio’s seat, a development that gave credence to speculations that she was nominated to take over as minority leader.

However, there was no formal announcement confirming her as the new minority leader.
