SDP denies planning to oppose Buhari’s administration

Reacting to a story that 14 political parties, working under a coalition group called Credible Alternative Alliance (CAA), have agreed to constitute themselves into an opposition to the APC-led government, the national publicity secretary of the party, Dr. Abdul Ahmed Isiaq said Buhari was yet to unfold his action programme to the nation and, as such, it was too early to criticise his government.
Isiaq in a statement he issued, said: “SDP and its national chairman, Chief Olu Falae, wish to say it never attended any CAA meeting in the last six months and it could therefore not have been privy to such a purported opposition group formation. The SDP notes that the Buhari administration is yet to unfold its agenda to the nation and it could therefore not make any comments at this point in time. We welcome regional security cooperation in our sub-region particularly in the quest to end the Boko Haram insurgency.”
It said the SDP is the third force in Nigerian politics, adding that it would not join any group in order to oppose government.
“Therefore, the leadership of SDP dissociates itself from the said publication. In due course, we will make our position on national issues known.”
