The candidates of the ruling APC and opposition PDP, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Jimi Agbaje, have engaged in social media ‘war’.
This was coming as a group of Yoruba under the aegis of Yoruba Self-Determination Advancement Forum (YOSEDAF) endorsed Agbaje for the governorship of the state.
The group is said to be a coalition of over 60 self-determination platforms committed to the political survival and democratic values of the people of the South West geopolitical region comprising Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo states as well as their kith and kin in Kogi, Kwara, Edo and Delta states.
Agbaje had taken a swipe at Sanwo-Olu for allegedly being a stooge of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Referring to Sanwo-Olu, Agbaje said, “In all of your public statements in recent times, you have paid homage and obeisance not to Lagosians but to whom you refer to as national leader for the opportunity to be a candidate. In effect you couldn’t have dared to run if you were not handpicked to be endorsed.”
But Sanwo-Olu using his twitter handle said the comments by Agbaje whom he referred to as his elder brother were unbecoming of an elderly man.
He said, “Our campaign should be about important issues that affect the lives of our people; what we are bringing to the table to make life more meaningful to Lagosians.”
Meanwhile, YOSEDAF at a press conference said the PDP candidate would give the state “a new lease of life.”
Convener of the group, Evangelist Kunle Adesokan, flanked by other leaders said their endorsement of Agbaje was premised on the fact that his aspiration was not tied to any godfather.
