Speaker of Nasarawa state House of Assembly Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has called on Muslims and other Nigerians to use the sallah period to pray for the success and peaceful conduct of 2019 general elections.
Abdullahi who made plea in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the speaker, Jibrin Gwamna and made available to newsmen in Lafia, called on religious, political and traditional leaders to preach for peace and unity among their people as 2019 general elections draw nearer.
The statement quoted the speaker saying that fervent prayers by Muslims and other Nigerians would not only ensure rancour-free elections in 2019 but would also promote harmonious relationship, peace and unity in the country.
"There is the need for all to guard against hate speeches, let do the right thing and intensify prayers for a hitch-free general elections and for the emergence of leaders that will deliver for the people. Let us use this period to reconcile with ourselves and God in case we offended each other," the statement said.
