A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chukwuemeka Eze, says “a campaign of calumny deployed to de-market the immediate former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, is an effort in futility.”
Reacting to a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, Eze described Amaechi as the star of President Muhammadu Buhari’s immediate past administration, whose performance, both as a minister and election campaign director, was outstanding.
According to him, the opinions of Nigerians and key figures within and outside government have placed the former Rivers governor miles ahead of his traducers, whom he accused of wasting tax payers’ money to malign and insult Amaechi in the media.
“Besides the fact that Amaechi served as the Director-General of President Buhari’s Campaigns in 2015 and 2019, he also performed creditably in the Ministry of Transportation.
“The former minister completed some ongoing railway projects like the Kaduna-Abuja road, and the Warri-Itakpe rail, while the Lagos-Ibadan railway is ongoing. So, Amaechi’s nomination is a foregone conclusion,” Eze claimed.
He further alleged that Governor Nyesom Wike and Senator Magnus Abe had engaged the services of some media influencers to discourage President Buhari from re-nominating Amaechi into his cabinet.
