The National Association of Resident Doctors said yesterday that it has not suspended its planned strike, contrary to news making the rounds.
President of the association, Onyebueze John, said it was agreed that the memorandum of settlement reached with the federal government at the instance of the ministers of Health and Labour early yesterday will be discussed at exco level before any decision can be taken.
The NARD president in a chat said the general public should not be misguided as a meeting of its executive has not taken place and has been scheduled for today, where it will take decision whether to accept the memorandum of settlement or proceed with its planned indefinite strike billed for Monday, September 4.
The doctors had taken a decision to embark on strike over what they called failure of the government to pay salary shortfall of 2016 and January to May 2017 and failure to rectify the salary shortfall from August 2017, as well as failure to circularize House Officers’ entry point, among others.
