The All Progressives Congress (APC) Volunteer Network South-East Zone , a body affiliated with the Buhari Supporters Group in 2015 election, has advised the party to either substitute the winner of the governorship primary poll in Anambra State, Dr Tony Nwoye, or risk losing the election.
The Volunteer Network threatened to mobilize its members and other APC supporters in the state to make sure that the party loses the election, should the party national leadership insist on using Nwoye as its standard bearer in the November 18 governorship election.
Addressing newsmen in Enugu yesterday, the coordinator of the group in the South-east zone, Barrister Anene Chikezie, said that the Anambra State APC leadership disappointed the “core members of the party” by allowing “new joiners and money bags” to hijack the party.
Chikezie said that the party has “abandoned those core members that suffered for it.”
Chikezie said perceived division in the APC caused the circumstances that led to the emergence of Nwoye as the party’s ticket bearer to the detriment of the core members of the party and the party itself.
He added that even within the APC in the state, some members have vowed not to support Nwoye’s candidature.
