It rained goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League yesterday as rejuvenated Kano Pillars and other top clubs in the league recorded massive victories in week 7 matches played across the country.

Kano Pillars who suffered agonizing moments at the start of the 2019 season recorded back to back wins as they crushed visiting Delta Force 6-1 at the Sani Abacha stadium.

Youngster Ebuka David opened the way for Pillars with a tap in three minutes into the match watched by a capacity crowd before Home-based Super Eagles defender, Musa Abdullahi made it two when he scored his first goal in the colours of Pillars in the 20th minute.

Five minutes into the second half, Auwalu Ali assisted by captain Rabiu Ali made it three for Pillars before Bala Yahuza reduced the tally for the visitors in the 58th minute.

However, three minutes later, Pillars inspirational captain, Ali restored his side’s three-goal lead and then it was smooth cruise all through for the ‘masu gida boys’ as Chijioke Alaekwe’s goals in the 77th and 87th minute completed Pillars rout of Delta Force.

Pillars had prosecuted their first three home matches without their vociferous fans as they were serving a three match stadium ban imposed on them by the League management Company.

In Okigwe, table toppers, Plateau United’s unbeaten run ended as Chibundu Amah’s strike in the 73rd minute proved enough to give victory to Heartland over the visitors.

Goals also rained in Akure where Abia Israel alone scored four goals to give Sunshine Stars a well deserved 4-2 victory over embattled Nasarawa United.

The match in Uyo between Akwa United and Adamawa United also produced four goals with home-based Eagles striker Ndifereke Effiong scoring a hat-trick (6, 14, 69). Paul Obata scored Akwa United’s third goal of the match in the 25th minute.

At the Muhammdu Dikko stadium, katsina United squeezed past visiting MFM 1-0 after Tasiu Lawal scored from the spot in the 8th minute.

Wikki Tourists also stumbled in Nnewi where they lost 0-2 to FC IfeanyiUbah, Lobi Stars forced Warri Wolves to 0-0 draw in Warri just as Akwa Starlets recovered from a 1-2 loss at home against Kano Pillars to force Abia Warriors to a 1-1 draw in Umuahia.

Enyimba FC and Rangers were not in action due to their continental engagements.
