The SDP Youth Parliament and the SDP Youth Vanguard have called for the suspension of three members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for their alleged role in the crisis that made it impossible to identify an authentic presidential candidate.
Those recommended for suspension in a petition submitted to the SDP Deputy National Chairman, North, Dr. Abdul Ahmed Ishaq, yesterday, were Alfa Mohammed, Deputy National Publicity Secretary; Comrade Stanley Nwaka, National Youth Leader and Mr. NSE Clarkson, National Treasurer.
The Deputy National Speaker, SDP Youth Parliament, Comrade Shuaibu Sani Akwanga, who led other youth to pass a vote of confidence on the Chief Olu Falae-led NWC, expressed their grievances over the alleged decision of Prof. Jerry Gana to connive with the concerned party officials. Akwanga, who said the three officials should be suspended to serve as deterrent to others, added that the name of the presidential candidate that emerged victorious at the Appeal Court should be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with immediate effect.
He warned that anybody that dragged the party to the Supreme Court after the impending judgement of the Appeal Court should also be suspended.
Responding, Falae said the party would react to the petition submitted by the group before the end of today, saying the points they raised were valid.a
