The Presidency has called on all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to set up the National Counter Terrorism Strategy (NACTEST) desks.
The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, made the call in Abuja Wednesday at the commencement of a three-day workshop for NACTEST Secure Pillar National Working Group, organised by his office in conjunction with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency.
The NSA, represented by Brigadier-General Emmanuel Ndagi, also asked the MDAS to take practical steps towards the implementation of the strategy consistent with their mandates.
He encouraged them to make budgetary provisions for carrying out the activities of the National Counter Terrorism Strategy, assuring them of his office’s readiness to collaborate with them.
Monguno said the fight against terrorism and other criminalities underscored the need for inter-agency collaboration and cross-border relationship to stem the current tide "because terrorism recognises no borders."
He noted that his office was leading efforts towards achieving enduring peace through the implementation of the counter terrorism strategy and various programmes contained therein.
He said his office expected very good cooperation and contributions from MDAs, civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations
The NSA said his office would continue to promote the coordination function as stipulated in the Terrorism Prevention Act (as amended) and provide technical support as necessary.
