The Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II has said the potential of Nigeria’s growing population has remained untapped.
He stated this at the second plenary session at the ongoing 25th edition of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) conference in Abuja, with the theme, Nigeria 20150: Boom or Bust.
According to the emir, the potentials of the country’s huge population is yet to be tapped as the right policies to harness the youths’ future are still lacking.
He said population challenge is the most important demographic challenge being faced.
Speaking at the Panel, Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum of Kayode Fayemi called for the mindset to be refocused stating governors are more interested in doing other projects like building roads and bridges because it attracts praises for them than improving the education sector in their states.
Also speaking, Founder The Kukah Centre, Bishop Mathew Kukah decried that everything that provides opportunity for the country turns into a liability. He said the population should be a huge manpower for the country to capitalize on than seeing it as a liability.
