The Igbo Post Graduate Students Association in Calabar has appealed to Nigerian political leaders, especially those from Igbo land, to come together and close ranks.
The president of the group, Chiedozie Ekowu, said the Ibos are not mere traders, but intellectuals and businessmen of repute who control the economy.
Speaking during the maiden edition of the University of Calabar Igbo Students Summit, Ekowu said: “Now is the time to stop playing politics of personal interest and start working together to develop our dear region; we need to start thinking beyond the problems facing us in the country and start thinking inwardly on how to make good use of our God-given potentials to better the lot of our people.
‘We have a task and that is an aggressive and daring approach to develop the abundant human and natural resources in the region and as our brother’s keeper for which we are known for would pave way for everyone in the region to be well off socially and economically”.
