Police parade principal over alleged rape of student in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has paraded the vice principal of Government Secondary School Nasarawa, Nasarawa State for allegedly raping a 16-year-old student.

The Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq Bello, who paraded the suspect alongside another rapist and other criminals during his monthly press briefing, said, “One Yakubu Ibrahim, 45 years, the vice principal of Government Secondary School, Nasarawa, was arrested for luring his student (name withheld) aged 16 to a hotel in Nasarawa town where he had canal knowledge of her. The suspect confessed to the commission.”

CP Bello also stated that one Haruna Aminu, was also arrested for raping a 13-year-old masa hawker in an uncompleted building around Lafia roundabout.

However, in brief interview with newsmen, the vice principalsaid, “All that happened is setup by some teachers in our school.

“I have a misunderstanding with some of my colleagues. I didn’t rape her; I was on my way to watch the European Champions League when I saw her coming out from the school gate. When I asked her where she was going, she said she was going to her aunty’s house and I accompany her to the said house at AngwanFada from there I preceded to the viewing centre.

“Unknown to me, they had gathered dozens of people who pounced and  started beating me till I lost consciousness.

“I admitted to the offense because I was thoroughly beaten and forced into accepting that I raped her.

“I was first detained at the Civil Defence  office, and later brought to the police. 

“It was a misunderstanding between me and my principal that cause all this,” he said.
