The Kaduna State Police Command has paraded 20 kidnapping, armed robbery, counterfeiting and motorcycle theft suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdulrahman, while parading the suspects after his maiden press briefing, said the command also recovered one locally fabricated gun, two long Dane guns, six live cartridges,1,366 live 7.62mm ammunition, large bundles of counterfeit US dollars, three motorcycles, one cutlass, eight wrist watches, one knife and assorted charms.
He said the command will work strictly based on international core values of policing with integrity in ensuring that the rule of law prevails in its actions and activities.
“We intend to intensify efforts in fighting crime while at the same time respecting the fundamental rights of all individuals and upholding the principle of zero tolerance to corruption, impunity and indiscipline for successful democratic governance in line with the ideals of Kaduna State and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“Concomitantly, the command has recorded some breakthroughs within the past two weeks by arresting the following: two suspected kidnappers, 14 suspected armed robbers, three suspected counterfeiters and one suspected motorcycle thief.
“As part of our procedures, the suspects paraded today will be arraigned in a court of law on completion of investigation,” he said.
He called for the continued support of members of the public to fight crime and criminality in the state and reassured them of the police’s total commitment to checkmate criminal syndicates and all forms of crimes and criminality in the state.
