Police parade 15 for stealing 31 sheep

The Gombe State Police Command said it has arrested 15 people for stealing 31 sheep.


Addressing pressmen yesterday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Obed Mary Malum, said the suspects, who were part of a notorious gang, were arrested following an intelligence report.

The PPRO said following complaints from members of the public, policemen at the Gombe Division swung into action that led to the arrest of the four prime suspects, Dan’azumi Abubakar, Salmanu Yakubu, Mohammed Umar and the alleged gang leader, Saleh Mohammed, aka Saleh Bros.

DSP Obed said the suspects gave the police vital information that led to the arrest of 11 suspected buyers of the stolen sheep, through their leader, one Alhaji Hassan. 

Obed added that when the police raided the hideout of the suspects, 29 sheep, one goat, one cow and three vehicles were found.

The Divisional Police Officer in the area, SP Umar Kabir Farouk, said investigation was still in progress to apprehend other members of the syndicate, which he said specialised in stealing and selling of stolen livestock.
