Police in Jigawa State yesterday arrested the leader of a motorcycle snatching gang, Musa Haruna aka Korau, in Hantsi village of Miga Local Government Area while on routine patrol.
The state police command spokesperson, SP Abdul Jinjiri, told Daily Trust that Korau ran out of luck when a police patrol team suspected his movement and he was arrested after he attempted to run away upon interrogation on the motorcycle’s ownership.
Jinjiri said Korau confessed to have committed the crime, saying he was the passenger that threatened the commercial motorcyclist with a knife and took away the machine, adding that he attacked the man with two members of his gang who are still at large.
He said a man had earlier reported to the police that his motorcycle was snatched from him at knife-point by a passenger who threatened to kill him if he didn’t let go of the motorcycle.
The police spokesperson said, though two other accomplices were at large but as soon as investigation is completed the suspect would be arraigned before a court.
