No fewer than 501 suspects have been arrested by the police in Oyo State in the last four months, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Abiodun Odude, has said.
He said 13 kidnap victims were rescued and 45 firearms, 55 vehicles and 18 motorcycles were recovered from culprits.
The CP revealed this in Ibadan while presenting the executive summary of achievements of the state command in the last four months to stakeholders in the state at the command’s headquarters.
In the breakdown, the CP stated that the arrest and recovery of items were done in 54 cases, adding that 24 cases of armed robbery were recorded and 184 suspected armed robbers were nabbed.
He further said that four cases of kidnapping were recorded and that 14 suspects were arrested, adding that five victims were rescued, while one firearm and two vehicles were recovered from the kidnappers.
CP Odude also revealed that six cases of murder were recorded and that four persons were arrested, two firearms and two motorcycles were recovered from the suspects.
The Cp further said 12 cases of stolen vehicles were recorded and 18 persons were arrested, from whom 20 vehicles and 13 motorcycles were recovered, adding that two cases of trailer hijack were recorded and six persons were arrested.
