Police arrest 4 cult sponsors in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four persons allegedly sponsoring various cult activities in Awka, the state capital.

The suspects are Prince Collin Ozojiofor, Okechukwu Nwaneke, Nwankwo Chukwuma, all male; and  Ozor Emeka Agwumadu alias Baby Awka. They were reportedly arrested in Umukwa village area of Awka.

Confirming the arrest, the police spokesman, SP Haruna Muhammed, said the command’s Operation Puff-Adder operatives led by the Commissioner of Police, John B. Abang, on Tuesday, in Umukwa village area of Awka, arrested the four suspected sponsors/members of Black Axe and Vikings confraternities.

“It would be recalled that on the 10 and 11 August 2019, there was a clash between two rival cult groups, the Black Axe and Vikings confraternities at Eckoka and Dike park all in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where one Chinedu, surname yet unknown, Alias (Nambo) and Uche Anarah, were brutally murdered,” he said.

He added that efforts are being made to arrest other fleeing gang members involved in the killings.
