Police arrest 10 over crimes in Katsina

The police in Katsina State have arrested 10 people for various crimes across the state.

Eight among the suspects were arrested for alleged theft of mobile phones, while the other two were arrested for alleged car theft and cannabis peddling.

The spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah, said on November 10, at about 06:30hrs, based on a tip off, the police succeeded in arresting one Ibrahim Usman, 35, of Unguwar Kwari, Badawa area of Kano in possession of a 35-seater Toyota Coaster bus, along IBB Way, Katsina.

The said the bus was stolen on Saturday at G9 mobile office along Audu Bako way, Kano.

“Also on 06/11/2019 at about 12:00hrs, based on a tip off, the command succeeded in arresting a notorious Indian Hemp dealer, one Shamsu Rabi’u, 23, of Gidan Mutum Daya village, Kusada LGA of Katsina State with two bags containing large quantity of dried leaves reasonably suspected to be Indian hemp,” he said.

The suspect was reportedly arrested while trying to move the exhibits to a particular location.

In a related development, the police spokesman said during the annual Sheikh Ahmed Tijjani maulud conducted at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium, Katsina, the command succeeded in conducting a sting operation at various locations in and around the venue where it busted a notorious gang of thieves who specialized in stealing money, GSM handsets and other valuables.
